About Lexie (On Trial 22/6/13)
Lexie is a 2 yo Wolfhound x Border Collie and a medium sized dog. She has a sweet face and will happily sit for a pat. Her favourite toys are pieces of rope that she can toss around and play tug of war with. She is good with children and loves to watch them play. She is a smart girl and knows how to sit and stay. She doesn't always come back when called but this can be improved with more training. She is trained to walk on a lead but does pull at times so I find it best to walk her on a head halti. Lexie loves dogs of her own size but is a little too rough for smaller breeds. She is good with cats and will leave them alone. Lexie does not jump up on you or jump over fences.
Lexie has had puppies and was a wonderful mother with a nurturing nature. She will need to be walked every day or every second day and is happy to spend time with you. She is learning house manners, but not fully house trained yet. She sleeps outside of a night on her bed or in a kennel which ever she prefers.
Lexie has a rough wolfhound coat that requires little care, just a monthly bath and brush. Lexie needs a loving home where she will be a cherished member of the family and get to spend time with you. Given a little more obedience training Lexie will make a perfect pet for the whole family.
For more information or to meet Lexie please phone foster carer Cassie on 02-4966-1669 or 0428 595 916. Lexie is in foster care in Maitland, NSW 2322 and is available for adoption interstate.
Lexie's $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
