Shibby

Exuberant, joyful & energetic are just some of the words to describe the happy bundle that is Shibby. Whether it's a swim down at the dog beach, a run at the park or simply sitting at your feet looking up at you adoringly, Shibby does it all with great enthusiasm.

Shibby is a black Labrador x Australian Koolie - for those who are unfamiliar with the latter, it's a breed of working dog - which makes for a pretty impressive combination. Shibby's a very intelligent dog & with the limited training he's had, understands the usual “Sit”, “Stay”, “Leave It” & “Drop” commands, along with "Jump" for hurdling & going through the hula hoop. For those that fancy themselves a bit of a dog whisperer, they'll find unlimited potential in this dog!

Shibby is an older dog but apparently nobody told him that because he's retained a bouncy, puppyish attitude towards life. Two things that get him very excited are food and walks - he will literally jump for joy at the prospect of either. The trick is just getting the lead on him; once it's on, he's a dream to walk. He'll take whatever length of lead you want to give him without pulling and when you stop at a curb, he sits automatically. He's good off the lead too. When it's feeding time, Shibby can barely contain his excitement, but put the bowl down in front of him and he'll sit there and wait until he's told it's OK to start eating. Shibby has the bright, athletic energy of a young dog, balanced with the maturity of his years.

Shibby would be best placed in an active household that has time for him, for he's a very affectionate lad who just wants to be around you. He's great with children of all ages and is a fantastic companion dog. Shibby is generally good with other dogs but can be territorial so he needs to be carefully introduced to another dog in his home. He's currently living with a female staffy.
