About Squid (On Trial 15/5/13)
Smiley Boy Squid is a friendly 2 yo small mixed breed boy; most likely a Basenji x Staffy (40 cm high at shoulders). Squid absolutely loves people and is most happy following you and just being with his human family, whether that be inside or outside. He is content just to be with you and sit at your feet - when you give him pats he closes his eyes and looks like he's in doggy heaven! He walks beautifully on the lead by your side and would love to be adopted by a family who will take him on fun walks or to the park for a game of fetch - which he is great at. He is a well mannered boy who loves balls and has recently discovered the joy of squeaky toys.

Squid was rescued from the pound where he was so frightened of everything. After less than a day in foster care he showed his true friendly nature and is constantly smiling. He is in foster care with 4 other dogs both big and small whom he gets along well with. He does prefer less boisterous dogs so if you have an older or sensible dog in your family already Squid will integrate quickly. He can be a little skittish with loud noises, rough dog play, or fast cars passing close by but responds quickly to reassurance and this will reduce over time.
Squid is friendly with children and would make a great best friend to an older child; someone to play fetch with and tag along with. We think that Squid's previous family loved him as he is so well adjusted.
If you would like to meet Squid please contact Jo on 0427 695 104. Squid is in foster care near Gosford on the NSW Central Coast and is available for adoption interstate.
Squid's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
