About Holly (On Trial 8/6/13)
Holly is a 8 year old female Doberman X (Rottweiler?). Despite being a mix of these large breeds, she is quite a medium sized girl of around 30kgs. She has a sweet Doberman face and a long, waggy tail.
Holly is good with kids and is happy to sit back and be massaged by her 8 and 5 year old carers for as long as possible. Her gentle nature means she often exchanges kisses for pats. She loves coming inside at night to watch TV on her bed. She currently sleeps in an indoor/outdoor room with access to the backyard. She likes to sit with her front paws crossed – cute!
Holly can sit on command. I’m not sure if she’s spent much time on a lead as she pulls a little bit at the start of a walk but tires out pretty quickly. She enjoys our 20minute blast around the block of a morning and this seems to be enough for her. Afterwards she finds herself a little place in the sun for a snooze.
If you go into the backyard, Holly will be your shadow, following you everywhere and watching what you are doing. She's not really interested in chasing or wrestling with other dogs. She does get playful with a ball however and will fetch a toy. She doesn’t always return the ball. Holly does let her foster brother sneak a few biscuits out of her food bowl too and will have the occasional tug of war with a toy with him.
Holly finds herself in need of a new home after her owner passed away unexpectedly. She previously lived with a 4 year old male dog. She is currently sharing the backyard with a boisterous 9 month old male puppy and has adapted well to her changed circumstances but needs a furever home.
Holly’s ideal forever home would be with another laidback or older dog for company or with someone who can spend some time with her as she does seek out human attention. Holly would need to meet any potential doggy siblings as she can be picky with her playmates. She does not like cats.
For more information or to meet Holly please phone foster carer Jennifer on 0427 290 989 or email jenbis1@yahoo.com . Holly is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Holly's $200 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
