About Penny (adopted 23/5/13)
Penny is an 18 month old, Terrier x Pomeranian x Pekinese. She's a cuddly and affectionate lap dog. Once she knows you she will be your best friend. She is fine around children, male dogs, cats and chickens and is inquisitive around the rabbits.
Penny is extremely affectionate and needs a home with a family or person who is home alot and are able to take her for little walks each day. She is fiercly loyal and loving and definately needs to be an indoor dog and around people most of the time. She is not fond of men, due to her history and will protectively bark when someone comes to the door. Other than that, she doesnt usually bark. She is house trained, unless left alone indoors for too long and cant get out. She loves to follow you around the house and sit close to you most of time. She has been spoilt here and sleeps on the end of my bed, which she loves. She is a fun and happy little girl, who will make a great and loyal friend for someone. She is good with children, and does not ever bite. You will fall in love with her and she will fall back in love with you. If you are looking for a little friend to dote on then she is your baby.
Penny enjoys a game of tug-of-war. She could do with further training to sit etc, although she does come when I call her around the house and yard. She loves going for walks but I would not walk her off the lead until she has more training. We always recommend positive reinforcement dog training classes for all dogs. She likes going in the car and gets very happy about road trips.
Her most endearing quality is how much love she shows towards you; she likes to kiss and snuggle. She will be very hard to let her go, she has been a pleasure to foster, but I know she needs a home of her own.
For more information or to meet Penny please phone foster carer Michelle on 0430 983 293. Penny is in foster care in Wallsend NSW 2287 (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Penny's $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
