On Hold
About Dude (On hold pending adoption on 9/5/13)
Dude is a 5 1/2 year old Boxer x. His most endearing feature is the way he will gently approach each family member, sit in front of them and "pat" them with his paw as if to say "I love you".
He is active, intelligent and very eager to please. He has had obedience training and displays road sense. He walks well on a lead. He loves to swim, play fetch and is very affectionate. He is gentle with small children and socializes well with other dogs. He will chase most cats and lizards and birds. But he is obedient and will stop if told to do so. He likes chicken necks, fish fingers and "Supercoat" dry dog food. He loves raw bones a couple of times a week.
Dude shows a little anxiety in small spaces. This has improved dramatically over the years with lots of encouragement. He does fret if left alone all day therefore his ideal home would have plenty of room to run and another friendly dog of similar size to keep him company. His birthday is 26/09/2007.
Dude is a great watch dog, but is not a nuisance barker. He will be an asset to his lucky new owner as he is a very special boy!
He is looking for a loving home after major life changes in his family, which saw him lose his canine companion and his familiar surroundings. He has always been a much loved and well cared for family pet since his family got him from the pound when he was 8 months old, and they are very sad that they can no longer keep him.
For more information or to meet Dude please phone foster carer Beth on 0421 023 326 or email bethany1309@hotmail.com . Dude is in foster care in Medowie, NSW 2318 (30 minutes north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Dude's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
He was vet checked and vaccinated on 5/4/13. He is a healthy young dog.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
