About Scruffy Eddie (On Trial 14/4/13)
Scruffy Eddie is a 11yr old little gent (Jack Russell Terrier) who is looking for a comfortable chair or lap to nap on for his retirement years. He spent the first 11 years of his life ‘servicing’ two little female doggies. When he arrived at my place, he was disorientated, scared, recovering from desexing, and missing his little lady friends, but he has settled in beautifully in a very short time.
Scruffy Eddie is a friendly little dog. He absolutely loves a walk and is always eager to have his harness put on. He doesn't require a lot of walking. I take him on his lead for 15 minutes a day and he is very content with that. He also loves going in the car and on rainy days, I’ve taken him out for a little drive and that has kept him happy.
Scruffy Eddie gets on well with our resident dog and another foster dog, even though my other foster is very cheeky and steals Scruffy’s food! Probably he is so adaptable because he was used to living with 2 bossy little women!
Scruffy Eddie is an indoor dog. He is house trained and uses the doggy door. He answers to his name and comes when called. In time, we may change it to just Eddie. Like any dog, he will need proper fencing, and you'll need to be careful opening the front door initially, so he doesn't decide to go exploring. He has a clean bill of health and small dogs like him typically live to around 16, so he will have plenty of time to enjoy his new home. He is supposed to be a purebred Jack Russell but we think he might have a little bit of Maltese in him - not sure.
I have only had Scruffypants for 3 weeks and I’m already in love – he is a fantastic, loyal little guy who will make a great addition to your family. I believe Scruffy Eddie would enjoy the company of another friendly, small dog or he'd be fine as an only dog.
For more information or to meet Scruffy Eddie please phone foster carer Di on 0413 310 791. Eddie is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Scruffy Eddie's $200 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
