About Tilly (On Trial 25/5/13)
Tilly is a red Cattle dog x Beagle, approximately 8 years old. She is a different from other rescue dogs; she doesn’t require a temporary foster carer or to be adopted; she requires a permanent foster carer/special angel. The reason for this special arrangement is that Tilly has cancer (Hemangiosarcoma), the really bad kind, where chemo wouldn’t help her. So DRN is looking for a loving home for Tilly, where she could live out her life, happy and loved. As a permanent foster carer DRN will provide Tilly's flea and worm treatments and pay for her veterinary treatment. You will provide Tilly with food, treats, toys and love.
Tilly is not sick at the moment. She has a touch of arthritis but that doesn’t slow her down. She had a very large lump removed from between her shoulder blades and the vet has estimated that Tilly will live another 12 - 18 months, possibly 2 years. From the research I have done, Tilly shouldn’t suffer at all. Her cancer is blood vessel related, she will be fine, then a blood vessel will rupture and this is when we would hope that Tilly is allowed to go to doggy heaven.
Cattle dogs tend to be very people orientated and usually attach themselves to one person. For this reason Tilly would prefer that there are no other dogs. No cats either as they are good fun to chase. Tilly would love for her last and final home to be with someone who wants to spend time with her. She will always greet you with a yap and a happy wiggle of her body.
Tilly walks beautifully on lead and enjoys going for car rides. She adores cuddles on the bed but only after she is invited. She is very smart and adaptable and will learn anything that you need her to learn. She currently knows come, sit, drop, bed and no. She is very obedient. She is fine being left along and hasn’t destroyed anything inside the house. She loves to defluff stuffed toys but these can be obtained cheaply from op shops. She is housetrained.
If you have a loving heart and like the idea of a totally devoted dog in your life, but don’t want to commit long term or risk veterinary bills, then Tilly is the girl for you. Of course if you would prefer to adopt Tilly rather than foster her then she is available for adoption with no adoption fee.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
