On Hold
About Annie Oakley (on medical hold)
Annie Oakley is an 8 month old German Pointer (assumed) cross American staffy with a beautiful brindle coat. Her coat is short, shiny and soft like a German Pointer. She has massive eyes that are way too cute to resist. Her big ears are silken and floppy. She is still growing into her long gangly legs and they can get a little tangled up when she tries to manoeuvre herself quickly.
Annie is a placid and gentle girl, who loves a cuddle. She will snuggle up to you in any place or position. She could sleep for hours whilst snuggled up against you on the lounge. She is eager to please and loves attention. Her relaxed and placid nature will see her sprawled out in the sun or on the floor, extending her belly for a rub.
Annie is easily trained, she is super smart and learns commands within 10 minutes of commencing training. Because she is so eager to please, she is happy to oblige to commands. She understands “come, sit, out (of the kitchen!), no and down” She is very food motivated and we have used this to achieve great results. Annie loves treats! Rawhide bones, raw bones, pig ears. Whatever is on offer, Annie is delighted.
She is perfectly housetrained and sleeps inside on her own bed on the floor next to her foster carers. Annie loves to play fetch. She also loves to rumble with the other staffies at her foster home. She is well socialised and walks on a lead very well. She travels in the car well and goes to the off leash dog park or dog beach most days. She always comes when she is called to go home. Annie will need walking every day.
She would suit a home with existing dogs, but also would suit a dogless home, providing someone was home during the day. Annie is not suitable for a home that is empty during the day.
It is apparent that Annie was not abused in her last home as she has no behavioural issues, but was certainly neglected of love and attention, she is not a fan of being left alone, loud shouting or dark spaces. Annie will make a perfect family dog due her to placid and gentle nature. She is joy to have in our home.
For more information or to meet Annie please phone Misha on 0468 408 777. Annie is in foster care in Forestville, Sydney, NSW 2087 and is available for adoption interstate.
Annie’s $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
