About Carlos (On Trial 16/4/13)
Carlos is a white and fluffy bundle of joy. He is a 2yo Maltese x Shih tzu, is playful and excitable, and very affectionate. At this stage we have not observed him interact with other dogs. He would love to be able to play with our cat but he has learnt to be “respectful to her authority”.
Carlos loves people and needs someone that can play with him and provide him with lots of love and company. He is not suited to young children, he prefers adults. He would also suit an elderly owner. He loves to sit by your feet and would receive belly rubs all day if he could.
Carlos is a smart dog, who in a short period of time has learnt to sit, come and stay on request. He would be fine to take to dog training. He travels well in the car and is learning to enjoy going for walks on a lead. He was extremely shy and timid when he first came into care but is coming out of his shell and is gaining trust in people. With this new found confidence he is now barking at people as they approach “his territory” however he does quiet when asked.
Carlos spends his days outside and sleeps inside at night. He has been spending increasing amounts of time inside when the family is at home and we have been working on toilet training him. He is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside when people are home and to be part of the family. Carlos loves his food and will eat most things. He has a beautiful low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (weekly), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4-8 weeks). He enjoys being groomed.
If you think you could love Carlos for the rest of his life, please contact Christine
on 0407 252 952. Carlos is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Carlos's $450 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
