About Sydney
Syd is an absolutely gorgeous dog that is best described in two words: easy and sensible. OK, maybe five words. Easy, sensible, gorgeous, cuddly and awesome!
Since coming into foster care in Sydney, she has delighted both her humans and her canine housemates with how easily she goes with the flow and just fits in to whatever is going on. Her foster family has a four year old little girl, and Syd never jumps up even when toddler craziness hits fever pitch. She is content to simply sit near her and maybe try to sneak in a face-lick or two.
Sydney is crate trained (crated on her own) for being inside overnight, and has mostly been outdoors with 3-4 other dogs during the day. Given her cruisy nature, she would most likely adapt to being indoors (or indoor-outdoor) very easily. As with all kelpies she will need a home that is committed to keeping her mind and body active with engagement and involvement in day to day life, but she is not at all hyperactive or destructive. Given how much she engages with a pack, we would ideally like to see her homed with at least one other active dog.
Syd's recall has been excellent and she’s not a barker, a digger or an escape artist. Like we said, easy and sensible! She knows “wait” and “no”, but rarely needs the latter as she’s such a well-behaved girl. She’s untested with cats, but has shown some interest in possums so may be better in a home free from small animals.
The only thing we should probably add is that her excellent recall appears to be to the name "Bonnie"! We're happy to change it on the paperwork when she's adopted, but as her new owners may rename her again, we figured we'd wait and see before double handling the admin.
This happy, cuddly, trusting girl will give 100% of herself to the lucky human/s that give her a forever home. Just look at that face—it says everything!
