About Whisky (On Trial 23/3/13)
Whisky is a lovely, male blue cattle dog x, senior citizen, 8 to 10 years old. He is well trained to come to his name, sit, walk on a lead and off – not running away, and play ball.
His favourite pass time is receiving a scratch behind the ears by whoever is around – the stranger down the road, the kids or the postie. Whisky will show his appreciation with a characteristic moan (it sometimes sounds like he is talking) – which will keep you doing this for hours.
Whisky is not a fan of cats, and would prefer to be the centre of everyone’s attention (that means, not so good with young pups but seems happy enough with other older dogs). He loves being around people of all ages, kids through to seniors. Whisky is very relaxed meeting new people and will do anything to make his foster family happy. He has several good years still in him and would suit someone keen to make him one of the family.
Whisky is comfortable sleeping in the laundry or dog kennel, as long as he gets to spend time with his new family when they are up and about. Whisky appears to have allergies, for which he can take doggy eye drops when needed. These are inexpensive and last a while.
Whisky is available from Dog Rescue Newcastle in exchange for a small donation (maybe $50 or $100?) to support our work. If you are interested in meeting Whisky, please contact Karen on 0403 940 014 or kaz.fraser@hotmail.com or Robyn on 02 4972 0804. Whisky is in Blacksmiths, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Swansea).
Whisky is desexed, vaccinated, flea and worm treated, microchipped and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
