About Gadget (On Trial 23/3/13)
Gadget is a young male beagle cross, approx. 1 year old, with big soft ears and sweet, happy eyes. He is very playful and loves affection.
Gadget is currently living with an older labrador and a mini foxy pup, so gets along well with dogs of all sizes. He has a lot of energy and loves to run around, but will also happily lay at your feet with his favourite treats and enjoys a good scratch behind his ears.
Gadget is food orientated and has learned some basic commands. He is very clever and since being rescued from the pound has learnt, 'sit', 'look', 'drop', 'roll over' and 'go to bed'. Gadget is being house trained and loves to spend time inside when you are home. He loves to go for walks, but requires further on-leash training as he is still learning. He is eager to please and, to assist with mental stimulation, would benefit from on-going training.
When Gadget was first rescued, he seemed to have no idea how to play with other dogs or toys, but with some encouragement from his foster family (dogs included), he has grown to love balls, rope toys, and anything that squeaks. Gadget has also developed a taste for treats. He loves pork barrels and pigs ears, as well as a good old kong stuffed with kibble, treats, and wet food.
Gadget is a very sweet looking dog, and is athletically built, which makes him a great runner, as well as having the ability to jump. He would need a home with a well fenced yard that he wouldn't be able to jump out of in order to keep him safe and secure.
For more information or to meet Gadget please phone Amy on 0430 704 834. Gadget is in foster care in Port Macquarie area and is available for adoption interstate.
Gadget’s $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
