On Hold
About Ruby (On trial in new home starting 23/03/13)
Ruby is a 3yr old lhaso apso. She was shy for about 30 minutes when she arrived and is now wearing out our two boy mini Schnauzers with her play. She had a good bath and a bit of a clip to tidy up and is very happy now.
She is a real sweetheart and would respond well to someone spending time training her. She couldn't negotiate stairs on day one but after watching the boys do it picked it up first go. We are not sure that she had been ever walked on a lead before but again, after one go she picked it up straight away from walking with the boys. We tried her with a harness to walk and that seems to suit her right down to the ground. She is house trained and entertains herself when the boys run out of steam. She is happy having a cuddle on the lounge as well. She has been exposed to adults and children and we have a ten month old baby making her way around the floor and she has been fine with her as well.
We both work so she has been outside in the yard with the boys a lot and coming inside at night. She loves toys and last night we watched as she decided she could not get toys out fast enough so she climbed into the toy box as well! If she hadn't moved she would have just been another teddy bear in there!
Ruby has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
This is a little dog with plenty of personality without the little dog persona of owning the place. She is only small and can get through small spaces so secure fences are a must.
For more information or to meet Ruby please contact Melanie by email her at mlc298@hotmail.com. Ruby is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW 2300 and is available for adoption interstate.
Ruby’s $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
