About Hamish (On Trial 24/3/13)
Hamish is a 9 week old, male, purebred, Miniature Poodle. He has a tiny face and beautiful little features. He will just drop at your feet and sit when he wants a cuddle and is a real snuggler. He is learning to love belly rubs. He loves playing with all sorts of toys and especially likes tug games. His is very well behaved and loves small children. He has been around other dogs but no other animals. Being so young he would quickly learn to accept other pets such as cats.
Hamish is an inside dog and needs to be inside as much as possible and to sleep inside. He sleeps inside with his siblings in a soft little bed but also likes a trampoline bed. He is happy to sleep at your feet and is also happy to curl up on your knee.
Being a purebred puppy, if left outside alone in a yard he would be a target for thieves. We are housetraining Hamish to use a puppy pad and to go outside and he is doing ok with this. He can use a doggy door which has had the flap removed. He loves chicken, cooked carrots, puppy biscuits and puppy milk and likes to try new food.
He is just learning his new name. Poodles are very intelligent dogs so Hamish will do well with puppy training. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, training, and time with their humans.
Hamish has a glossy black, non-shedding coat. He will need regular combing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful. You'll need to be prepared to commit to this if you want a poodle.
Hamish was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle by a breeder, along with his 4 siblings, mother Judy and father Peppa (all also available for adoption). Hamish is the smallest in the family.
Hamish will suit a family that want a playful, clever, inside dog. He would be ideal for children. For more information or to meet Hamish please phone foster carer Vicki on 02 4976 1200 or 0428 721 063 . Hamish is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW (near Newcastle).
Hamish has been vet checked and is very healthy he has just had his first vaccination. His $700 adoption fee includes his desexing, first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
