About Zara (On Trial 15/3/13)
Introducing Zara, 10-week-old, female, Border Collie X puppy. She is confident and outgoing but still loves a cuddle. She is also playful, affectionate, smart and oh so adorable! She is great with other dogs, large and small, and is fine with cats too. She is learning a few basic commands such as sit and come.
Border collies are very smart so she will do really well in puppy training class (which we always recommend for all puppies). Her home will need a good fence because she will grow up to be a medium sized dog and might be a good jumper. Zara has a short, easy care coat. She's not a fussy eater: she loves bones, fresh meat and dry puppy food. She will need plenty of exercise, training, playtime, and time inside each day with the family. She is very sociable and needs to spend time with her people every day. Zara and her littermates have been raised by their Mum Tessa in a family home (not a kennel) so they are well socialised and used to a home environment.
These puppies were born on Boxing Day 26/12/12, after their pregnant mother was surrendered to DRN a few days before Christmas. Mum Tessa is a purebred border collie and an excellent mother. All 8 puppies and Mum have been receiving the best of care since they were born. They are very healthy and friendly. We're not sure about Dad but we think he was a smaller dog.
For more information or to meet Zara please phone foster carer Leanne on 02 4954 0557 (no email). These puppies are in foster care in Glendale, NSW 2285 (Newcastle area).
Zara's $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
