About Maya
Maya was surrendered to Geelong Animal Rescue along with 5 of her siblings.
They were rescued from a dog hoarder on the other side of Melbourne.
Her siblings were all adopted however Maya had to wait for scans on her hips at 10 months of age to determine if she has hip displacia. She has had her scans and they show that she does have a degree of hip displacia, however with correct diet and exercise, this shouldn't bother her for quite a few years.
Maya is a sweet and beautiful pup who just loves life. She loves her walks and gets along great with other dogs. She isn't currently housed with another dog, but she has been previously and has regular play dates with other dogs. She does however live with two cats and she loves to chase them. She wouldn't harm them, she simply enjoys the thrill of the chase. She LOVES going to the beach or running through puddles on our walks. It has me giggling when she finds a puddle!
She is learning some basic commands but will need someone who is willing to continue this training. She will be a large dog and hence will require sufficient training. She is very food orientated.
Maya had some stranger issues when she was younger, but has since worked through these. When out on walks she will walk up to just about anybody for a pat, but at home she wants to sniff you first, then she will come up for a pat. She is not an aggressive dog in any way. She is submissive to other dogs. She has been snapped at by other dogs, had her ears pulled by kids and had my hand in her food bowl while she is eating and has shown nothing.
Maya will make an amazing family pet to someone who is willing to put in the time and effort with training and exercise. She will provide you with a lifetime of love, laughs and cuddles. She truely is an amazing dog and once you meet her, you will fall in love with her as we have :)
