About Falkor (On Trial 24/3/13)
Falkor is an 8 week old, male, Wolfhound X puppy with very boisterous attitude. He knows what he wants and will try and get it regardless if another dog has it. He is very much the leader but also enjoys being a follower playing with his brothers and sister. He sometimes will growl and bite at your ankles in a typical puppy way if you're not paying attention to him. Falkor is great with kids and is quite gentle and not jumpy at all. He enjoys running and games with children and dogs alike.
He has a very confident personality but also has a very affectionate side and wants to sit on your lap and receive cuddles and kisses. He enjoys a treat every now and then and is learning to sit and come but gets side tracked a bit by his brothers and sister.
Falkor will need a dedicated family who have the time to spend with him. He has a tendency to whine if he is left alone so he will need to have either another dog or someone with him during the day.
We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training, and not to be left outside in a yard all alone.
Falkor is the name of the large white dragon that the children rode in the 80's film "The Neverending Story". The name means \ 'Guard of the people'. A noble name for a noble dog.
Falkor and his 9 siblings (also available for adoption) were born on 29/12/12. We think dad may have been a border collie. I am thinking that Falkor may not be a big dog, probably the size of collie. He and his littermates will be ready to go to permanent homes after the 16th March but can be viewed now. If you leave a deposit your chosen puppy will be reserved for you.
For more information or to meet Falkor please phone foster carer Kylie on 0425 373 885. Falkor is in foster care in East Maitland, NSW 2323 (20 minutes northwest of Newcastle).
Falkor's $450 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
