About Errol (On Trial 29/7/13)
Errol is a 4-5 year old Great Dane cross.
He enjoys the company of people and gets along well with other dogs and could play all day if he had the choice! He is a large and quite a strong dog, but is a gentle giant.
Errol knows basic commands such as sit and stay, he seems to learn quickly so could be taught more if you needed to. He tends to gulp his food, but will sit patiently until he is allowed to eat it. He does not react negatively if his food is taken from him while he is eating. Errol is excitable when on the lead and is not good with small animals such as rabbits and probably cats. Thunderstorms do not bother him in the slightest.
With a lot of effort, Errol's separation anxiety has almost (if not completely) gone. He no longer attempts to jump the fence when he knows you are leaving, he knows that you will come back, so just watches you leave. He is eager to please and is easily trained with treats. He is not one to turn down a romp with his foster sister, but when they are not playing he's usually right by your side. He is very affectionate, when he is enjoying a pat he sits down and when he is really enjoying it he playfully rolls onto his back on your feet for a belly rub. For the first few days at a new home he is quite nervous, but after that you begin to see the true Errol, who is a beautiful, loving soul.
He doesn’t seem to take any interest in toys, preferring to play with another dog or sit near his human family. He is quite happy lazing about or getting active. Errol will make a loving and loyal companion.
For more information or to meet Errol, please phone Caroline on 02 4988 6401 or email moorefieldsfarm@bigpond.com. Errol is available for adoption interstate and is in foster care in Minmi, NSW.
Errol’s adoption fee is $300 which covers his desexing, vaccinations, flea & work treatments, microchipping and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
