About Henry (On Trial 5/2/13)
My name is Henry, 2yo, Silky Terrier x. I had a very rough start in life and somehow wound up in the pound: dirty, matted and scared. The day I was rescued was the best day of my life! I loved my foster mummy and my new name right away and was just so happy to finally have someone who was kind to me. As a result of my past, I do tend to be a bit nervous with loud noises and get a little bit scared when my foster brothers get a bit too rough. But I'm getting better and better every day.
Favourite games: I love playing fetch with tennis balls and plastic bottles. I LOVE LOVE LOVE tennis balls and I like to collect them all and hide them so only I can get to them and play with them. I get very, very excited when my foster mum throws a tennis ball for me. If she throws more than one though, I try very hard to pick up more than one up at the same time. I also have a cute little thing I do where I hold on to tennis balls by the fluff and toss them around for myself.
Grooming: I have a non-shedding coat so it's important that I have my coat clipped every 3 months. I need gentle brushing a few times a week and a bath every couple of weeks. My coat was in bad condition when I was rescued from the pound so it had to be cut quite short. After I was clipped I looked like a completely different dog!
Training: My foster mum has begun to teach me some basic obedience. She thinks I’ve probably been forced to be an outside dog for most of my brief life before being rescued from the pound, so housetraining is ongoing for me. I am looking for a forever home where my new humans have the time and patience to teach me and be gentle with me so I can continue to gain confidence. I am also now an indoor dog.
General Behaviour: I don’t pay much attention to my foster brothers and sister. Sometimes I play chasey with them and I have a little bark when they get excited. When I first came to her, I was too scared to bark so she thinks I was probably treated quite badly whenever I barked in the past. I am a very excitable little man who loves nothing better than to play and then cuddle lots and lots.
I am a unique and precious little man who has some funny and very cute little quirks that endear me to everyone who meets me. I would like to be in a home where someone is home most of the time, and when there isn’t someone home, that there is at least one other small friendly dog to play with and be forever friends with.
I am a very cute and loving little boy who will cherish a forever home with the right person or people who will be gentle with me and love me lots.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
