About Spencer & Timmy (On Trial 1/2/13)
Spencer and Timmy have been through a lot together and need to stay together. They are 12 to 18 months old, Tenterfield Terrier crosses (possibly with Jack Russell and/or Australian Silky Terrier). They will keep each other company when no one is home, but love to be with people and get lots of cuddles when they can.
Spencer is an affectionate little boy; calm and sweet, not wildly energetic like you might expect from a young terrier. He can be a bit shy when he first meets you, and will come up and sit next to you or tap you to say hello. He won't jump all over you. He is fine with cats, ferrets, and even goats!
Timmy is also a shy but affectionate little boy, not overly active. When you get to know him he's a real sook, very loving, and he'll come up to you shyly for a gentle pat then to sit on your lap. His goal in life is to please you and be your loyal friend. To meet him is to love him.
Timmy and Spencer are fine with other small dogs. They come from a disadvantaged background and are still learning to have fun. They have started to play with soft toys and it's a joy to watch them open up and enjoy being carefree. Timmy jumps at sudden loud noises. They absolutely love to be near people. They are both total sweethearts.
Spencer and Timmy didn't come from a pound, they were surrendered along with 3 other dogs by an owner who said he was going to drown them all. All the dogs were shy at first but never nippy.
Spencer and Timmy are inside dogs and need to be allowed inside when the family are home and to sleep inside. They are housetrained and have some very basic training but could do with learning more. They are not barkers, barking only when someone knocks at the door.
Both dogs are a small dog but have long legs. Spencer has a beautiful, soft, longer coat that is a unusual ginger colour. He has a happy, smiling face and a friendly smile. Tim's face has a soft, gentle appearance, with soulful brown eyes.
Spencer and Timmy need to stay together as they are the best of mates and give each other confidence. They would be suited to a fairly calm environment, without a lot of excitement or loud noises, because they can be a bit timid and are still learning to trust people. So a home with active young children or noisy teenagers would be a bit stressful for them. Both are a healthy young dogs with their whole lives ahead of them and a lot of love to give. They are looking for a home where they will be a part of the family and loved for the rest of their lives.
For more information or to meet these adorable boys, please phone foster carer Debbie on 02 4945 8756 or email smilingspider@vtel.com.au . They are in foster care in Belmont, NSW (near Charlestown, south of Newcastle).
Their adoption fee is only $600 for the pair and includes their desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registrations. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
