About Azkaban
Azkaban is an amazing boy with such a friendly nature, who just loves playing with other dogs. In fact, you probably couldn’t find a more dog-social dog. Not only does he loves playing and snuggling with them, he actually gets a lot of confidence from them. When we first rescued him, he was absolutely petrified of people, but has come such a long way since then and his fellow canines are a bit part of his progress.
Although Azkaban has completed his rehabilitation, he is still very cautious of things; strangers, loud noises/movements in the outside world (which means patience when walking), etc. However, all it takes is a bit of guidance and he’s back to his smiley, happy self. Because of this though, he will need an experienced owners, not just for the transition from foster home to adoptive home but ongoing. (Part of his rehabilitation after a couple of months, was to transition from one foster home to another… and he just kept progressing).
Azkaban (or Azzy, Azky, Azkabum) is housetrained and crate trained. He’s still progressing with his leash training but is miles better than he was and the good thing is he will very rarely walk ahead of lag behind – he sticks by you for assurance. Although, walked with another dog and he’s a lot more adventurous!
Because of the sheer difference in his personality when dogs are around and when they’re not, Azkaban will only go to a home with at least one resident dog. We only say this because his progress will suffer if there is no other dog in the house and it is imperative that he doesn’t regress. And, to put it simply, he is at his happiest with canine company. He is untested with cats though.
All in all this guy is a very, very special dog, who has touched many hearts since his rescue. He is very loyal, affectionate, and just begging for as many cuddles as you can give.
