Lara (On Trial 28/4/13)

Lara is a simply stunning 2 1/2 year old caramel and white Siberian husky. Lara lives with a 12 year old Labrador (Sophie) and a 3 year old Kelpie (Will), both of which she gets on really well with. Her and Will can play for hours just chasing one another around the yard, where Sophie is more like a mother to them both, being the oldest she tends to lay around and watch and do the occasional bark when they get too rough.

Lara will definitely need another dog to keep her company. She has been around smaller dogs and she doesn’t play much with them at all, probably sees them more as food then a friend. Lara’s current owners also have a cat and she has chased him around the yards a couple of times but never actually been able to catch him (Not sure what would happen if actually caught). Probably thinks the cat is a chew toy as well.

Like any husky the new owner will have to have proper fence. Lara has dug out of her yard a couple of times but has always stayed around the house. She has a dog run which she gets locked in when her owners are out and also at night. Other than that she is always walked on lead, which the current owners aren’t happy about because they live on 112 acres and I’m sure she would love to run free but unfortunately can’t just let her run wild. As far as being around children the owners are a little unsure. She sometimes jumps on visitors when she gets excited. She has never been aggressive in any way towards anyone. She is just a big strong dog and sometimes she forgets she is when she tries jumping on your lap. Lara is a lovely girl but she hasn't had much training up til now. She just needs someone who knows how to train and dog using kind, gentle methods or who will take her to dog training classes.
Lara's is available for adoption because her owner recently had a baby and is finding it too hard to give Lara the attention and love she needs and deserves.
