About Macka (On Trial 14/2/13)
Are you looking for the perfect mix of laziness and excitability? If so look no further. Macka is an 8 year old Golden Labrador. He is such a sweet old boy, he loves pats and cuddles, is great with other dogs and children, and just loves your company. He will just as happily laze about as he will go for a long walk. Due to his circumstances before coming into care, Macka is used to walking himself, but is learning to walk well on the lead.
He does enjoy playing and it's as though the years have lifted off him when he does, he is still a puppy at heart. Macka is a big boy, he is overweight and is on a proper diet, to help him shed the extra kilos, and will need to continue to be provided with a similar diet.
Macka loves water! He will splash about in it all day, and loves to lie in it. He is however terrified of thunderstorms and would need to be able to be kept secure during them as he will fret and possibly escape. I would say he would be the same during fireworks.
Other than his weight, Macka is perfectly healthy. He is not a nuisance barker and rarely barks. He does not seem to have had any training previously but will sit if food is being offered as a reward, and would likely learn all sorts of new tricks, if given the motivation and time to learn.
Macka may be advanced in years, but he has plenty of life left to live, and lots of love to share. If you think you can offer this boy the perfect home to live out his Golden years please contact me.
For more information or to meet Macka please phone foster carer Cassie on 02-4966-1669 or 0428 595 916 or email c3027218@uon.edu.au . Macka is in foster care in Woodberry, NSW (near Maitland) and is available for adoption interstate.
Macka's $200 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
