About Jackie (On Trial 19/1/13)
My name is Jackie. I’m a very sweet 1yr old female American Staffy x Bull Terrier. I love lots and affection from my foster parents and am really friendly to all the new people I meet. I’m getting more and more playful by the day and I have a fantastic time going for walks with my foster parents. I love to eat anything I am given and have really enjoyed chewing bones and pig trotters.
I love to play with my Kong and chase it around, it’s so much fun I often throw it around by myself. I also love sticks and other toys that I can play tug-of-war with. I love playing with puppies and young dogs. This is so much fun. I get along well with other dogs and had a great time with my foster sister who was a little smaller than me, although I would be ideally suited to dogs about my size.
Unfortunately I cannot hear very much as I was born profoundly deaf. However I am a very clever dog who has been learning the hand signals from my foster parents so they can let me know what they want me to do. I have already mastered many tricks. I know how to sit, lay down, stay, come to my parents when called, go to my bed when I’m told and have almost learnt how to shake. I really want a forever family who will be patient with me and willing to continue my training because I’m really my happiest when I can please my parents. My training is very easy and not too different to training a dog who can hear.
I love to curl up in my bed and am happy to sit by my foster parents side when they are home. I like to follow them around the yard and watch what they are doing and I can stay at home by myself all and keep myself entertained.
For more information or to meet Jackie please phone foster carer Sian on 0411 367 606. Jackie is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW (Newcastle).
Jackie's $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Jackie was born deaf. But she still leads a normal and happy life except that she shouldn't be allowed off lead. She is trained using hand signals.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
