On Hold
About Audrey -Desexed and Vaccinated
Audrey is a very special girl. She was taken to the pound when she'd been found as a dumped pet before Christmas. Audrey was very pregnant, but she tried to hold onto her babies as she did not want them born in such an awful environment. When she couldn't hold them any longer, she gave birth to a dead baby, followed by three live ones (Shirley, William and Eliza). Fortunately, one of our wonderful volunteers was there at the time, and decided to get them out. The next day was very stressful, as we wondered whether Audrey would reject her babies due to all the stress she'd been through. When we thought it was time for intervention, Audrey pulled herself together and jumped to the rescue, feeding her babies and making sure they were allright. This was a huge relief, and she's continued to be a fantastic mum ever since.
Audrey is such a sweetheart, and still has so much trust in humans. She loves to be patted, and is an all round wonderful gal. She will need a special family to call her own. Although Audrey is already a mother, she is still only a baby herself, and has a very long life ahead.
As if Audrey's story isn't sad enough already, it does get worse. Both of Audrey's ears are infected. This is a very bad condition, and can't be left untreated. When she has weaned her babies and is fit enough, she'll have to have an operation to lengthen her ear canals so the puss can drain out. This will be a permanent solution to the problem, but is costly. Although it is after Christmas and it is the worst time for asking, if you can help just a little towards the procedure, we'd be very grateful. Update: Wow... we are honestly speechless, and as anyone can see, amazed at this response from so many generous people! This has drastically reduced our vet bill, and not only does it cover Audrey's costs, but if there are no objections we'd also like to put it towards Buffalo (another rescue listed) who just had a tumour removed (4.2.13). There are always animals needing a bit of extra care, and the support from the community as shown here, allows us to save other lives. Thank you all again! Audrey's surgery is soon to take place, and we'll keep you updated on her progress!
Medical notes
Audrey is currently recovering well from her operation. She has been desexed and vaccinated also.
