About Digby (On Trial 26/1/13 with Rigby)
Digby is an 12 to 18 month old Australian Terrier x Tenterfield Terrier. He is quiet and calm and nothing bothers him. Even when the other dogs want to continue to play after he's had enough he doesn't get annoyed. I think he's just happy to be in a safe and loving foster home where he can wait until his forever family falls in love with him and takes him home.
Digby can be a bit shy when he first meets new people, but when he gets to know you he will adore you forever. He loves affection and attention but doesn't demand it. He won't jump all over you. When you settle down on the couch he will simply come and sit next to you. He is not wildly active. He enjoys other small dogs and will sometimes join in their play. He likes to have company.
Digby didn't come from a pound, he was surrendered along with 3 other dogs by an owner who said he was going to drown them. All the dogs were shy at first but never nippy. Digby has now learnt that most people are kind and loving and he has changed from a scared dog into a happy, playful dog.
Digby is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside when the family are home and to sleep inside. He is housetrained and has some very basic training but could do with learning more. He hasn't met any cats yet. He is not a barker at all. He is a small dog but has long legs. He has the sweetest little face that reminds of a little mouse, with long tufts of hair that stick out along his chin. So adorable. He has a beautiful, soft coat.
Digby's ideal forever home would have another little dog, his size or smaller if his people aren't home alot. He likes to have company, either human or doggy. Digby would be best suited to a fairly calm environment, without a lot of excitement or loud noises, because he can be a bit timid and is still learning to trust people. So a home with active young children or noisy teenagers would be a bit stressful for him. Digby is a healthy young dog with his whole life ahead of him and is looking for a home where he will be a part of the family and loved for the rest of his life.
For more information or to meet Digby please contact foster carer Sue on 02-4954-2234 or 0415-367-144 or email docman4@bigpond.com . Please email and keep trying to ring as her phone is often engaged. Digby is in foster care in Warners Bay, NSW (Lake Macquarie).
Digby's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
