About Toby (On Trial 5/1/13)
Toby is an 11 year old Maltese. I would say he's the perfect lap dog except he prefers to lie at your feet. He's a very expressive dog, you can tell everything he's thinking through his eyes and the wag of his tail. He especially loves to roll over so you can pat his tummy. He's just a very happy little dog and will melt your heart.
Please don't be put off by his age. Little dogs like him typically live to at least 15 or more, so he still has lots and lots of love to give. He is very healthy and full of life and likes to run around with our other dogs sometimes.
Toby is not a fussy eater, he will eat anything. He is not snappy or aggressive in any way. He doesn't mind being on his own or with another dog. He doesn't make a sound or bark when I leave the house so he doesn't disturb the neighbours. He's toilet trained and is ok on a harness for walks.
Toby loves all people especially when they pat him. He would the ideal dog for a retired person to love, or for someone who works all day and wants a dog who doesn't mind snoozing while they're at work and will give them a happy greeting when they come home. He'd be fine a townhouse or unit. Toby is just a sweet bundle of love waiting for someone to make him theirs.
For more information or to meet Toby please phone foster carer Debbie on 02 4945 8756 or email smilingspider@vtel.com.au . Toby is in foster care in Belmont, NSW (near Charlestown, south of Newcastle).
Toby's $200 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. Dog Rescue Newcastle www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation. Your support allows us to continue saving other homeless dogs like Toby.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
