Charlie *On Trial in His New Home*

*CHARLIE IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME* He’s looking for an owner who will spend the time helping him reach his full potential; will it be with you? \

Found frightened, skinny, dirty and cowering in a carpark with an old piece of rope hanging from his too-tight collar it took his foster carer a good month to bring Charlie out of his shell and start to trust people again and now he can’t get enough of them – he is great with humans of all shapes and sizes though will require supervision around toddlers who he could quite easily bowl over in his newly found exuberance! Charlie is loving being spoilt in foster care and he gets along well with his carers own little dogs especially their male Jack Russell x who he’ll happily play with for hours though sadly Charlie can’t come inside with the others as he’s too much for the households indoor cats who he wants to chase and terrorise so we wouldn’t recommend him to a home with cats just yet. He thinks he’s a little lap dog like his carers’ own little dogs and tries to curl himself onto your lap for snuggles – lucky he’s only a small, lean 14kg Kelpie!

We don’t think Charlie has had any training so his foster carer is working on “sit” as well as “down” as he does jump up a bit especially when he first meets you as it’s all very exciting for this high-energy dog! Since being in care Charlie has discovered the joys of a daily walk and enjoys getting out and about on a lead exploring what the world has to offer. He will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so he learns good manners. Charlie can still be a little bit anxious and licky though he’s getting better each day as his confidence grows – he’s even learnt how to play with toys and likes a good game of tug-o-war!

Charlie would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with a doggie or human friend for company in a home who’ll continue with his training and not leave him alone for long periods of time especially during his settling in period. A good sized secure yard, daily walks, bones to chew on, toys to keep him stimulated and loads of attention would make Charlie very happy indeed!
