About Raphael
Raphael and Ellie found themselves in a predicament that may have spelt a life of breeding for them both. A PAWS foster carer saw an advert in her local paper for a Poodle and West Highland Terrier (neither had been desexed or microchipped) and contacted us to see if we may be able to help them. We agreed to take the dogs out of this situation even if it meant paying money to the backyard breeder who owned them. PAWS is not in the habit of paying for dogs but felt that in this case we could not leave these two living in a bird aviary reproducing puppies for profit. The backyard breeder wanted a lot of money for for Raphael and Ellie even though they had no vet work done and had never even been vaccinated! When our foster carer went to pick the dogs up she found the Poodle to be a purebred but the West Highland Terrier was in actual fact a Westie X Maltese. After a phone consultation we agreed to pay the backyard breeder $600 in total for both dogs. Ellie was in season and Raphael would not leave her alone so, being confined with him, would have been very uncomfortable during that time. Both Raphael and Ellie have now had all of their vet work done, including desexing, so future breeding for this pair is no longer an option. We cannot say much more about Raphael and Ellie yet as we've only had them in care for a few days, however we can say that they are lovely little dogs with gorgeous personalities and we will find them the best possible homes. Raphael and Ellie can either be rehomed as a pair or to a home where there is already another dog in the home as a companion.
