About Zara
Zar is Ms Personality Plus, an intelligent, loving and gentle dog who is a bit of a comedian at times. She is a joy to have around the home, well behaved, not at all silly nor destructive tho she loves to play with her toys and of course is house trained. She needs good regular exercise and enjoys running, long walks and ball or bone throwing.
Zar walks well using the check/release method, does not bark at other dogs who are also controlled on leads or behind fences but is wary of another dog approaching her. Her original owner says she gets along well with other dogs once she has got to know them, especially a well socialised dog.
Zar is protective around the home, intruders would be warned to go elsewhere. She needs good fencing, around 5 to 6ft but has not shown any signs of wanting to escape. She also needs a good exercise area, some shade for hot days and a rough patch of longish grass or short shrubbery as a toilet near the perimeter. She's an outdoors girl but likes to sleep inside, on her own bed, for protection and company. Zar is very much a team player and loves to be near her team.
She stands at 63cm tall to base of neck, seated she is 80cm to top of head, her length from base of tail to nose is 90cm, her overall length from tip of tail to nose is 130cm and she weighs about 27kg. Her fur is very short, she will tolerate a warm hand held shower and is dry in seconds. She responds very well to most unpleasant things (tablets, showering etc) with small treats.
Zar is a keen learner, she knows the basic positive obedience training words such as Come, Sit, Stand, Drop, Walk, Stay, Wait, Back, Turn, No, OK etc and loves her name, will always come to it. She would be an asset to an active person or family (children over about 7), she loves company and looks magnificent. Zar loves the car and sits or lies quietly enjoying the scenery with windows left open.
Zara would best be suited to a larger/rural property.
She is currently being fostered in Sydney, NSW.
Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing maggiesrescueadoptions@gmail.com or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
