About Rocky
Rocky is a 2 year old, male, Silky Terrier cross. He is a very affectionate boy and loves the company of a human family. He is a very good companion and will hang out with you all day! Rocky loves toys and using his nose (typical terrier!), sleeping on the bed and joining in the family activities. He is a handsome boy who needs an understanding, patient and extremely caring owner who will love him and give him a forever home.
Rocky didn't have a real good start to life. When his owner went into a nursing home, Rocky was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle so we could find a new home for him. Rocky is scared of new people at the front door, children and some things in the outside world. We have started positive reinforcement training with Rocky with a trainer and Rocky is doing exceptionally well. Rocky's new owners would need to continue with this and be open to understanding the principles of positive reinforcement training. Our trainer has kindly agreed to giving a private consultation for free after he is adopted. That should be all he needs to be on his way to a wonderful new life.
Rocky is really smart and enjoys training and using his brain to figure things out. Positive reinforcement training involves lots of praise and treats and no punishment so it is very enjoyable for both the dog and the person. Rocky has a beautiful low shedding coat which needs regular combing (every couple of days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful. But at least he won't drop dog hair on your clothes or furniture. Rocky is seeking a kind, gentle family with no children where he will be allowed inside and will be made part of the family.
Rocky wouldn't thrive if he were left home alone all day while everyone worked full time. But he'd be ok if someone only worked part-time or was retired, so they could spend time with him and help him with the things he is scared about.
In return Rocky will give you loyalty, unconditional love, good company, affection and lots of fun!
For more information or to meet Rocky please phone trainer Eve on 0417-886-476 or email evem280177@yahoo.com.au . Rocky is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and needs to stay within the Newcastle area so he can by supported by our trainer.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
