ABOUT JACK
A note from Jack's foster mumma -
"Jack has really come out of his shell and is now becoming quite independent which I'm really delighted to see! He was such a timid little thing when we initially got him and whilst Kody was with him. He still is timid of certain things/people, for example my 4 year old boy is usually very gentle with him, however if he is playing rough with one of his toys or balls then Jack will run and hide.
He is very well behaved, he does what he is told to do. He loves belly rubs! He is very gentle and perfect for either an elderly person of which can still walk him or a family with children, so long as the children are gentle with him. He sleeps inside the house on his bed in my bedroom, and he stays there the whole night..he doesn't wander. At exactly 6am in the morning he will wait at the steps to get ready to go for his morning walk. He is absolutely in heaven when it's his walk time...this is what he really lives for, walks to him are the best thing life can give him - besides food of course!!!
He has become good friends with Buster - and he gets along with any dog, so long as they are gentle to him, once again he will be timid of dogs which are too full-on/rough. When he gets timid, he does not bite or nip, he simply runs and hides. He is a very gentle natured pet to have and as long as his environment is gentle and kind then he will be very happy.
He gets along with our cat - the cat tries to play with him sometimes and Jack is not sure what to make of this...he doesn't play back, he just walks away.
Jack is not a very "playful" dog - he is of course 6 years old, but he is still full of life and energy. When comparing him with Buster who does nothing but play, Jack prefers to laze about and take it easy. Jack's way of playing is by his owner taking him for a walk.
He goes to the off-leash dog parks, which he is great with other dogs....if anything barks at the ones which are too full on for him, but will play with the gentle ones. We also take him off the leash along the beach front at Point O'Halloran each day and he will come back to you when you call him. He does love to go and explore while he is off the leash but as long as you keep an eye on him and call him when he goes too far then he will listen and respond.
Depending on his environment situation for his forever home; I do believe he will thrive with having a doggie friend beside him. However, if his forever home consists of a retired couple/person who have lots of time to spend with him and are still able to walk him every day - then I believe he will be very happy in this environment also. If the environment is more of the home where the family is working and he is left outside on his own - I do not beleive he will like this at all, he will be extremely lonely due to the fact that he has always had a doggie friend beside him his entire life. As far as children are concerned; as long as they are gentle with him, then he will also be very happy - he doesnt play with my children much at all, he would rather lay beside them and get lots of cuddles and pats on the belly!"
