About Shibby
If you are looking for a loyal and reliable new best friend who will never let you down, Shibby is the boy for you.
His devotion to those he loves is only surpassed by deep fondness for his family.
Shibby is ok with female dogs and has lived with a 14 month child but this was only for a short time. He does not like cats at all - and will bark at them. He doesn't seem to like little dogs either (perhaps he thinks they are cats too).
He is not aggressive but be aware he may bowl a small child over with his youthful enthusiasm - by accident. He won't bight though. But this can be addressed with training
He loves playing in the park or yard and spends a lot of his day sunbathing. He also likes socks hahahahah.....so keep them tucked away.
Shibby will not complain about the TV program you chose to watch as long as he can share the couch :-)
He is super super smart and his life is all about fun, smiles and playing.
He gives THE BEST cuddles and will actually spoon with you or sleep at your feet - just to be close.
Shibby is territorial and will alert you if a stranger is about. However, he is not aggressive. He is PEOPLE orientated and his only ambition is to be near people, love people and get attention from people.
Shibby is ok on the lead once he calms down - then again, what dog doesn't get excited???
When he sees another dog he generally just wants to have a sniff, but he wont run towards it or try to attack - he is usually just wanting the owner of the other dog to pat him.
Shibby would suit a home where the people love taking their dog for a walk, run or jog. He is quite active so he would love kids with energy. A decent sized , secure yard is also a must. He can cope being alone as long as he has the company of another female dog who is not domineering. He would fret if you spend long hours working.
You can foster Shibby with a view of adopting him but there is no pressure to adopt if you merely wish to foster. The situation is quite pressing. Please contact Alyson
Adoption details
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
