About Missy (On Trial 8/2/13)
Missy is a 10 year old Maltese x Silky Terrier mix. She is very affectionate and and likes to lay close to you on your lap or on the floor. She is the perfect companion for a retired person.
She gets along well with other dogs and loves playing with my other small foster dog but doesn't like cats. Missy loves going for walks on the lead and rides in the car. She is full of life and beans for a dog her age but she is just as happy to sit by your side. She has a clean bill of health. She is an inside/outside dog, sleeping inside at night and is housetrained. I am teaching her to use the doggy door. She is a very good watch dog and will let you know when there is someone at the door. Missy enjoys sitting in the sun and is curious about her surroundings.
Missy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
She has been a wonderful companion to her previous owner who reluctantly had to surrender her prior to going into a nursing home. Missy is a joy to have around.
For more information or to meet Missy please phone foster carer Val on 02-4943-0615 or email grandy9@bigpond.com. Missy is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, adjoining Newcastle).
Missy's $200 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. Dog Rescue Newcastle www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation. Your support allows us to continue saving other homeless dogs like Missy.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
