On Hold
About Jess On Hold
Jess has had a hard life until she landed in foster care and we're sure she'd have many stories to tell! at this stage though, jess is just thankful and lapping up the comfort of a warm bed and good food provided regularly without having to scavenge for her next meal. Jess had been spotted around town in the showgrounds and elsewhere for about the last 18 months. She had mostly been looking after herself and gave birth to a litter under a pile of timber in the public school. Jess did find a friend in an elderly man who, shall we say, was more often than not inebriated and after he turned his back on her, she was alone again on the streets. She still sought human companionship but was now wary and streetwise, aware of what some people are capable of. Nevertheless, jess found another older fellow to attach herself to who was kind, but he was unable to keep her and finally she was brought into foster care in the hopes she will finally, once and for all, find a loving home to call her own. On arriving in foster care, jess was placed in a quiet room with a food, water and a lovely soft bed. She was taken outside for the first 4-5 days only on leash to ensure she wouldn't try to run off. She never even attempted to! it was two days before she ate a whole decent meal and a week before she was relaxed enough to have a good, proper sleep (without always having to keep "one eye open" for any type of danger!). A few days later she was relaxed enough to jump up onto the bed to nap. It's recently been discovered that jess likes to play fetch with a tennis ball. She is social with other social dogs, but she likes gentle contact, not rough or rowdy play. Jess also likes gentle children and adults but reacts timidly to any loud voices. She is housetrained and really appreciates the airconditioner! jess is a very well mannered girl and she'd be an ideal companion for someone who doesn't want a demanding dog that jumps all over you. Jess is more the type to lay at your feet or on your bed (if allowed) and she'll lay on the lounge beside you for a snuggle. Due to the time she spent having to fend for herself, jess shouldn't be in a home with any free-roaming small pets like rodents or bunnies etc, or any cats, kittens or chooks. If you choose to take jess out on a walk, she is fine on the leash but she will be wary of strangers, although she won't snap, snarl or bite, so a walk is not a necessity for this girl as she is just happy to be in a home! she has shown herself to be a very loyal companion who will quietly follow you around without demanding your constant attention. . . She will simply be there for you. Jess is not very big, only around the height of, for example, a staffy. We believe she may be pregnant again and, if that's the case, she will be kept in care until any puppies are weaned and she can be desexed. But, if you feel you can provide this little girl with the loving home she deserves, please don't hesitate to contact and she can be placed on hold for you. We'll keep you updated on her progress regarding whether she is in pup. Jess is wonderful with older children. She has attached ehrself to her carers 11 year old daughter and will fetch for her all day. When the kids are playing ball games she retireves your lost ball
