On Hold
About Cobar (On Temporary Hold from 24/11/12)
My name is Cobar because I was born in Cobar NSW. I am a 4yo, female, kelpie x Australian cattle dog. I'm happiest when I get to play in water, I love my toys (even more than food) and I especially love when I can sit down with my owner to get a pat.
My old owners were very sad to see me go, but couldn't keep me as they moved to a new house that didn’t have a proper backyard. I used to live with a cat and now live with another dog at my foster home. I am protective by nature, but loyal and loving to my companions.
I'm not too big but still have lots of energy and would need my forever home to have a good sized yard and an owner who can walk me every day. I probably wouldn’t need to have another dog for company (if my new owner didn’t go to work a lot) but if I did have a new sister or brother I'd like one with lots of energy so they could keep up with me.
I am starting to learn how to walk properly on a lead; since I am very intelligent I am learning very quickly. Even though I like to run a lot, my foster parents have NOT seen me try to jump a fence at all or dig a hole.
I didn’t come inside the house before I came to live in my foster home but I learned to be toilet trained in only a week. I still need to learn that my owner can take food off me without me getting protective over it.
I was born on 31st August, 2008. I have a great personality and can be boisterous and puppy-like sometimes. I'd be happy to play with children but I would only suit children over 9 years old because sometimes I want to be left alone. I am looking for a loving, active family who can give me the attention and affection I need.
For more information or to meet Cobar please phone Robyn on 02 4972 0804 or 0407-074-143 (sorry, no email). Cobar is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Cobar's $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. Dog Rescue Newcastle www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation. Your support allows us to continue saving other dogs like Cobar.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
