About Bruno (adopted approx 19/10/12)
Bruno is a 2 year old Shih Tzu x Maltese. He loves it when you put him on your lap and stroke his face and belly. He likes to stay close to his people, especially on your lap or next to you on a pillow. He is very, very gentle and good with children. He gets on well with the two other small dogs at my home. He is an inside dog and needs to be inside, part of the family, especially at night.
When we come home to him, Bruno howls in a cute "hallo again" way. He will bark at you if you don’t great him, so it would be unkind to ignore him, and who could resist his happiness. He just wants to show how much he missed you. Bruno is fantastic on lead and a pleasure to walk. He barks when he sees a large dog when we're on our walks but when we get closer, he just sniffs and harmonises. He respects other dogs food at feeding time, and only barks sometimes to say something important.
Bruno was born on 8/10/10. When he was rescued from a pound he was underweight and his hair was overgrown and dirty. But he has bounced back amazingly in just a few weeks and is such a happy, loving little dog.
Bruno has sensitive skin and needs to be fed plain food such as homemade meat and vegetables plus a premium quality dry food for sensitive skin. He doesn't shed so he needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and healthy. We don't ever want him to be dirty and unloved again. He deserves a great future in a home where he will receive lots of TLC, and he will return it right back.
For more information or to meet Bruno please phone foster carer Michaela on 0466-995-925. Bruno is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (near Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Bruno's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. Dog Rescue Newcastle www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation. Your support allows us to continue saving other homeless dogs like Bruno.
Medical notes
Healthy young dog.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
