About Amber (On Trial 26/10/12)
Amber is a beautiful 2 year old, female, Red Kelpie x. She has a beautiful personality and gentle nature. We named her Amber because of her amber eyes and beautiful amber stripes on her back. She also has the most beautiful smile with the whitest teeth.
She is living happily with two other dogs, one of which is a lot smaller than her. They all run around together having a ball and they even have the occasional wrestle. Amber is very gentle with the little dog. Amber hasn't been on her own at my place so I’m not sure how she would be home alone without someone home a lot or another doggy companion.
Amber loves to go for long walks and gets a gold star for being the best dog to walk on the lead in our house. She is very affectionate to all her human friends she meets, and loves a good belly rub. She loves to shake hands and chase a ball. Although our other dog is a ball hog so she doesn’t have much of a chance! Amber will let you know when a stranger is around, but does not bark excessively that the neighbours will be annoyed.
She loves her outdoors and happily sleeps in a kennel. She would love to be an inside dog at our house however we have two indoor cats that she hasn’t really had the chance to be acquainted with as yet. They are probably the first cats she has ever met so she’s not too sure what to think of them. Given time I am sure she’ll be good with them, however I would always make sure I supervise their interactions.
Amber would not be suited to a family who have birds or smaller pets like rabbits or guinea pigs. We don’t have children so I’m not 100% sure on how she is with them. However because of her gentle nature I think she would be great around them. The only time she gets boisterous is when she is wrestling with our other dogs. Amber has good manners and is learning quickly to sit and wait at meal times, although she has adapted her own version of lying down and holding onto the bowl! She would benefit from further obedience classes and would enjoy agility training.
Amber would be a great companion to most families provided you are committed to giving her regular exercise. She is a very sweet girl and you’ll enjoy having her around your home. I’ll be very sad to see her leave as she’s one special little dog.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
