About Rusty (2) (On Trial 27/10/12)
Here’s our little mate Rusty, a Jack Russell around 2 or 3 years old. Rusty has two passions in life – his human family, and food! No fussy eating for this little guy … EVERYthing is delicious! He currently has quite an acceptable waistline – in fact he’s a very handsome boy -- but he was a bit of a tubster when he first came to his foster carer’s house, and had to learn that between meal snacks just weren’t on the menu!
His human family is also mightily important to Rusty, and he just LOVES everyone! When you come home he is not just happy to see you, he’s overjoyed! He rushes to meet you, squeals with delight, and can’t wait until you stop long enough for him to get on your knee, have a cuddle, and a bit of a chat about your day. In fact, he even thinks visitors to the household are pretty loveable, and he’s delighted to meet them too, and always ready to cuddle up with anyone who is charmed by his sweet face and happy manner.
Rusty is good with kids, loves to have a game with toys, and keeps a bag of his favourites just where he can see them. He adores going out for a walk on the lead, and is always watching for signs that you are getting ready to take him. At his foster carer’s house he knows where his lead hangs, and if he thinks a reminder is necessary, he removes it from its hook and drags it around, full of excitement and anticipation. He behaves well during his walk (and travels well in the car too).
Rusty is currently living with a number of other dogs, big and small, and gets on well with everyone. In his previous life he was used to having the company of one other dog, so he would be best suited to a family where there was someone at home all the time, or where there was another dog to keep him company if he was left alone for periods during the day. He loves to be inside with his family, and is looking for a home where he is considered to be the important member of the family that he is so sure he is.
For more information or to meet Rusty please phone foster carer Lynda on 02-4987-1213 (after 6pm Monday to Thursday, or any time Friday to Sunday) or email dogshouse@tpg.com.au . Rusty is in foster care near Raymond Terrace, NSW (north of Newcastle).
Dog Rescue Newcastle www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation. Rusty's $400 adoption fee covers his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. Your support allows us to continue saving other homeless dogs like Rusty.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
