About Max
Max is a "smallish" medium size dog with all the cuteness of a King Charles and all the wiggly bum energy of a Labrador.
He loves to play with his foster siblings (a Jack Russel and a King Charles Spaniel), he is great with children and is a much loved foster pet.
Max also loves to cuddle up next to you on the couch, he loves playing outside but he has been enjoying the life of an inside dog. Max walks quite well on the lead, pulling a little but this is easily corrected. Max travels well in the car and greets visitors with lots of bum wiggles, kisses and that "come and throw the ball for me" look!
Max would suit most family situations, especially an active family who have another pooch to share the fun times with him. As Max is part Lab and has that bouncy, boisterous tendancy at times, he might possibly topple over very small children.
Max has recently been shuffled from one home to the next, by well-meaning people, before Homeless Hounds was asked to help him find his "forever" family. He has always adapted well to the different homes, however, we feel Max deserves to find his forever family who will adore him as much as he will adore them in return.
Medical notes
Max has been desexed, vaccinated and micro chipped. he is uptodate with worm and flea control.
Adoption details
Once the animal is advertised candidates for adoption are requested to fill in a form.
The adoption questionnaire form asks where the animal will sleep, details of people and other animals in the home, training and exercise plans etc. We use this form as part of our screening process.
If we like what we read and the animal’s individual needs are met we then conduct an informal phone interview.
Then the potential adopter meets the animal at the carers home or the carer may choose to take the animal to the adopter’s home to do a house and yard inspection.
If the adopter meets the animal at the carer’s home a house/yard inspection is done after the meet.
When the yard inspection is done we are able to further evaluate the suitability of the candidate to adopt.
If we are satisfied that the animals needs will be met by the adopter and that they are a good match for one another then a trial period may begin.
We have legally binding pre-adoption forms which allow us to remove the animal from the home if all other solutions to issues have failed.
We have a good support base which adopters can utilise if needed, such as a professional trainer, a behaviourist, vets and a groomer.
Homeless Hounds offers support to our adopters for the life of the animal. It is policy that each adopter is aware that if the ever need help or to rehome the animal then HH wants to facilitate that.
Our procedures are based on advice from "model" and well established rescue groups and trial and error.
