About Sophie
Sophie is a young girl who is full of puppy boisterous energy. She has learned some commands such as sit, stay and “on your bed”, she also returns when called. Sophie has been spending her weekends on a farm and gets along well with the horses and other dogs at home. Although she hasn't been living with children, she appears to be fine with any children she comes across during walks. Sophie loves her food but is not food aggressive at all, she is simply a beautiful and friendly girl who loves her doggy friends.
Sophie is not suited to a family who are away from the house much of the time, as she loves to be with her people, she is also best suited to a family with other dogs for her to play with. Sophie travels well in the car and adores her daily walks as she has plenty of energy.
Being a young girl, Sophie will require ongoing training and puppy school would be the best place for this, as she will be able to continue her socialising as well. Sophie is also a smoochie girl so if you are a family who loves lots of doggy kisses and cuddles, then Sophie is the girl for you!
Medical notes
Sohpie has been desexed, vaccinated and micro chipped. She is uptodate with flea and worm control.
Adoption details
Once the animal is advertised candidates for adoption are requested to fill in a form.
The adoption questionnaire form asks where the animal will sleep, details of people and other animals in the home, training and exercise plans etc. We use this form as part of our screening process.
If we like what we read and the animal’s individual needs are met we then conduct an informal phone interview.
Then the potential adopter meets the animal at the carers home or the carer may choose to take the animal to the adopter’s home to do a house and yard inspection.
If the adopter meets the animal at the carer’s home a house/yard inspection is done after the meet.
When the yard inspection is done we are able to further evaluate the suitability of the candidate to adopt.
If we are satisfied that the animals needs will be met by the adopter and that they are a good match for one another then a trial period may begin.
We have legally binding pre-adoption forms which allow us to remove the animal from the home if all other solutions to issues have failed.
We have a good support base which adopters can utilise if needed, such as a professional trainer, a behaviourist, vets and a groomer.
Homeless Hounds offers support to our adopters for the life of the animal. It is policy that each adopter is aware that if the ever need help or to rehome the animal then HH wants to facilitate that.
Our procedures are based on advice from "model" and well established rescue groups and trial and error.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
