About Bert (On trial)
On Trial in a new home on 22/9/12.
Bert is a 7 mth old red cattle x, who is small for his breed. He is a very quiet happy, timid adorable little boy with a wonderful disposition. Bert is a beautiful smart little boy. He loves his food, yet he will wait for his turn, he is not at all fussy and seems to enjoy anything you give him. Bert is a happy boy who loves to play with other dogs or curl up with you on the lounge. His gentle nature would make him suitable for a young family. He is not a barker.
His favourite activity is walking and play, plus snuggling on the lounge with you, he would do it all day if you let him. Bert has good basic obedience, and is easy to train. He would love puppy preschool. He is a happy boy and wants to please you. Bert is not a high maintenance dog, he loves to sit next to you and get a pat. He is such a gentle soul. He would do well in a normal yard. He does love to go for regular walks. Bert walks well on lead and with a small amount of training would walk well off lead.
He is a very happy dog and will make a loyal and loving companion. Bert is wonderful dog with a big heart. Bert would be great family dog.

Read about our Adoption Procedure on our website: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt.html#procedure
If you see a dog on our website then ither ring or email the contact person listed on the pet's description (contact us if you can't reach them). The pet's foster carer can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
If both sides agree, then you can adopt your new family member! When you pick up your new pet, you will be asked to:
- sign 2 copies of our Adoption Agreement
- sign a NSW Companion Animals Register-Change of Owner/Details form, and
- pay the Adoption Fee (cash, bank cheque, postal order, or direct debit)
The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. If, at the end of the trial period, you are happy to adopt the pet, and we are happy to allow it, then we complete the change of ownership paperwork and register it at council making the pet yours.
About a week or two later you will receive the ownership documentation in the mail, along with your new pet's vaccination and desexing certificates. If you decide to return the animal within the trial period we will refund your Adoption Fee less a $50 admin fee.
This is just a guide. Special arrangements and variations to the procedure are made when you live outside the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area. Most of our pets are available for interstate adoption. Please contact us about this procedure.
