About Basil
Hi my name is Basil!
I am a happy guy who loves to play bitey face with my foster sister Sally, before we both crash out on our comfy beds. My favourite pass time is sleeping, which i do about 22 hours a day. I have to sleep to break up the 10min bouts of bitey face! Oh and I almost forgot the best time of day is when I get to chill in my crate chewing at my Kongs and bashing at my wobbler which my foster mum hides all my food in. Sally and I compete to see who can empty our food toys fastest, and I am so good at it that I have been going to shops to teach other doggies how to use them!
My foster mum tells me that she is going to find me an awesome home, as I am only staying with her while i get Edumacated??? She is a dog trainer and behaviourist and said that once I learn to be a good boy I will be going to my forever home. I hope Sally is coming to my forever home too! Oh and my food toys!!! If I don't have those I don't know what id do with all my free time. She said I can't stay forever because there are other rescue puppies just like me who will need her help. So I guess i need to start the hunt for my forever home... Maybe i can come live at your place?? I am in a thing called an apartment, and you know what?? I like being up in the sky because I can see everyone walking around on the ground. I can see that there are other people right next to us, so I always stay very quiet so they don't get grumpy at me.
I'll tell you about the fun I have been having with my foster mum! She has little dogs called Chihuahuas, her big dog Sally, and even a bird called Lola. I try to play with her little dogs but I think I am a bit big for them, and Lola is not much fun either as she just tells me to go away and go to my bed. I am really good at using this doggy door thing, and can almost hold going to the toilet all night! I must be becoming a big boy now. One thing I have really loved about my foster home is that I got to go to puppy school where I met lots of puppies and I get to do lots of training at home too! I am happy to be in a crate overnight as well as for up to 5 hours if you need to go out during the day, as long as you give me my food toys to keep me busy. As I am a puppy I need to be in my crate when no one is around so I don't get ideas about chewing up the couch or table. I know what - Out, Outside, Sit, Drop, Come, Wait, Ok, Let's go, On Your Bed and Leave It mean. My foster mum said I walk very nicely on lead and that the car must make me sleepy as I am asleep before we even start the car! I am always learning new things which is fun cause I get lots of treats! But if you want to get me to do these things you will need some training too I have been told :)
I love these little things called kids, but sometimes I can get a bit rough with them as I love them sooo much. My foster mum said I would be great going into schools doing education, doing demos of the food toys I love so much, or even visiting people in hospitals and nursing homes. I hope that my new family will do things like this with me, and maybe even take me to some places were I can run and be safe. I actually have a special foot that looks like no-other and I think it makes me go faster! My vet said it is not a problem and i can still do all the things that everyone else can.
If you do think that maybe i can come and live with you, please contact Greyhound rescue so they can send you through an application form. My foster mum will have a good look at it, and if she thinks I would be happy living in your home, you may just get lucky and have me as your new addition :)
