** Basil is trialling his new home **

Hi there, I'm Basil and I'm a real character. I'm a 12 month old Kelpie/Border Collie and am really looking forward to a new home where I can share my love and, in return, be loved for life. A smile is never far from my face and I can guarantee I'll brighten your days.

I'm quite easy going and not your normal spitfire of energy for my type of dog, so don't think I'll go stir crazy and tear up the yard if you don't take me for a 20km run each day. I just want to be with people. Walks are great, but just hanging out together is also fine. Cuddles are my absolute, all time fave thing.

I'm still young so have been known to, ahem, chew on things and jump up on people - standard puppy stuff.

I'm still a bit too boisterous for small kids but will be fine once I mature a little and have become more educated. Otherwise, I'm well mannered and, with my Border Collie background, I'm brainy and quick to learn things. I come when you ask me to and I'd be more than happy to learn more of your language so we can have a fulfilling and harmonious life together.

Before I moved into my foster home, I led a fairly impoverished life and wasn't exposed things most dogs experience so many things are new to me - footy drills, other dogs running, trams, trains, buses etc. I'd never been walked on a lead, either, but am getting the hang of it all. I'm smart, a quick learner, keen to please and am seeking some more guidance on how to be a good family member. I try to do the right things, but am not sure if it is correct. Can you help me become a well adjusted guy?

I know I'm model material, well I don't say that, but everyone that meets me does. Who am I to argue? I'm great with other dogs and cats and, unlike a lot of male dogs, I don't have the urge to leave my mark on everything I walk past.

I'd be happiest in a home with another dog, with someone who's home most of the day, or where I'm taken with someone to work, so that I have regular stimulation.

PS: If you were thinking of tying me up all day, I can tell ya now, it ain't gonna work out between us - I'll tell the whole neighbourhood about it. That's how I ended up in need of a new home.

PPS: I'm house trained. Go figure, housetrained but no formal training, I am smart.
