Cookie (On Trial)

Small male fox terrier (smooth) cross / papillion cross dog. Cookie is a gorgeous, very lively affectionate little dog. He is still a puppy (14 months old) and loves to play chase and wrestle with our resident dog. He loves to go for long walks and sits to have his lead put on. He is house trained and loves to share your chair with you. He sheds very little hair and requires minimal grooming. He has had basic training. He is a very intelligent little dog and will respond to further training. Cookie was adopted by his previous owners from the rspca when he was 5 months old. Unfortunately he would get very excited with their two young children [5 & 8 year olds] and would jump on them and nip them. He got anxious around the children but was quite happy with the adults following them around in the yard and just happy to be in their company. Cookie did a behaviour modification class and also a 2 hour private obedience class at home with the children. He can sit and lay and generally comes when called. His nipping behaviour did not improve and their vet, after observing his behaviour with the children, said he was not the dog for them. It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision for them to part with cookie but they made the decision to surrender him to dog rescue newcastle for us to find a suitable forever home for him. Knowing his history and having got to know him over the past 4 weeks we believe cookie needs to have a constant companion as he craves attention.
