About Ozzie (On Trial)
Ozzy, 1 1/2 yo chihuahua. Favourite food: i’ll eat whatever my foster mum gives me. I do love doggy treats and my foster mum has tried me on a dent-a-stick for my toofy pegs and i loved it. I am learning to wait for my bowl to be put down for me and not to go running off after my foster brothers’ and sister’s food. If one of them comes near my bowl when i am eating, i do get a bit defensive and foster mummy still watches me closely to make sure i don’t get greedy after i have finished my dinner and go after someone else’s. Favourite games: i love playing fetch but still have to learn the art of actually bringing whatever is thrown back to my foster mum…but i’m learning. I love to snuggle and cuddle and play with my foster mum. My absolute favourite though is squeaky toys. If my foster mummy would let me, i would sit for ages just squeaking and squeaking any squeaky toy i can get my paws on. To save foster mummy’s sanity though, she is also teaching me not to fixate and when something is taken from me, i don’t get at all upset. I might look for it for a few minutes but after that, like the little man that i am, i move on to other things. I also like playing tug-o-war with toys with one of my foster brothers who i know doesn’t get cranky at me. Grooming: i have a short hair coat which sheds all the time so be prepared for ozzie hair…especially on your clothes and couch as i do love cuddles and to snuggle up beside you on the couch at any chance. I would benefit from a gentle brushing once every week or two and a bath at least fortnightly. Commands: i am learning to ‘stay’ when foster mummy tells me to but even when i get excited and managed to slip past her feet at the front, i never go far and can easily be walked straight up to and taken back inside. General behaviour: i get along well with my foster brothers and sister but tend to be a bit bossy at times since, even though foster mummy tells me i am just a little boy, i know that i am huge and can take on anything i want to. I would prefer to be an only dog but i am learning that having brothers and sisters can be nice too. I just need someone willing and able to teach me how to be a good bother. My foster mummy had to take steps to make her yard especially secure since whenever she goes away, all i want is to get out and be with her. If there is a little gap to be found that i can slip through, i will find a way…so a very secure yard is a must for me. I am a smart boy who likes to do doggy problem solving so, be prepared for me to come up with solutions to my confinement that you would not expect of someone my size. Foster mummy has a very high fence which i cannot jump but anything under 4½ feet (135cm) is just a high jump challenge for me to conquer. I am housetrained, though if i am left on my own and i am feeling neglected i may leave you a wet surprise just to let you know that i am not a happy boy. I am happy to either sleep in a doggy bed or on the human bed with you…rather i should say in the human bed with you. When my bedtime comes around i love burrowing under a blanket to hide and feel safe from the world. Just please be careful not to sit on me if you can’t see me. I walk well on a lead, though i haven’t yet learned to walk at heel. I know that with the right forever mum/dad though, i could certainly learn. Foster mummy hasn’t tried me in a harness yet and i hear about these things called cats but i’m not sure what they are. I suspect that they are something to be chased (a lot). I am a very cute and loving little boy who will cherish a forever home with the right person or people who will be gentle with me and love me lots
