About Nugget *On Trial in His New Home*
*NUGGET IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME* This sweet, well-mannered pup we’ve named “Nugget” and he’s looking for a new forever home after he ended up in our local pound, where lucky for him one of our volunteers discovered the little fella looking sad and lonely and knew she had to make him a SARG doggie; will it be with you?
Poor little Nugget has now recovered from a bout of kennel cough he caught while in the pound - just like for us humans it was love, good food, antibiotics and cough mixture which worked wonders. He is now enjoying life in foster care and adores everyone he meets especially other dogs who he is playful with - he doesn’t appear to have a nasty bone in his body. Nugget is also content to be left on his own and isn’t a “needy type” and he isn’t a barker even when his canine neighbours have been going off Nugget just politely ignores them. His foster family say he such a well behaved little boy, a real joy to have with them and apparently Nugget doesn’t mind a “snuggle up” in bed or on the couch if you let him!
While in care Nugget’s been busy mastering the basics like “sit and wait” which he does before each meal. He will happily “go to bed” when asked and is responding well to “come” even with a brand new name – a clever pup indeed! he walks well on a lead and with some ongoing training will soon be an expert. His love of food is making training a breeze. Nugget hasn’t met any cats yet, so we’re not sure what he thinks of them, but we can arrange to have him tested with some if required. We think Nugget would fit into most homes though preferably one without toddlers.
Adorable Nugget really is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up his energy. He doesn’t shed much hair though he’ll require a brush from time to time and a bath as required. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew on and toys to play with will make Nugget very happy indeed!
As Nugget is used to spending time inside, especially for sleeping at night (he’s only had a couple of “accidents” since arriving in care), we would like to see this inside / outside lifestyle continue in his new home with either a friendly dog for company or on his own but only if he won’t be left alone for long periods of time especially during his settling in period.
