Rocky *On Trial in His New Home*

*rocky is currently trialling his new home* meet handsome rocky we'd love to see him in his forever home in time for his 1st birthday on 2 september!! he was surrendered to sarg for rehousing as sadly his owner’s were first time dog owners who chose the wrong breed for their small yard and the fact that they work full time, so now we’ve promised rocky we’ll find him the right home so he nevers ends up in a situation like that again. When rocky came to us at 8 months of age he’d had very little training and was quite unruly though since being in the right foster home for the past few months he’s matured and thrived on the company of other dogs as well as being eager to learn and great to train thanks to his love of food!

from rocky’s foster carer: he is a very beautiful natured young dog!! he has adjusted well and come to love our dogs and is always by bronte or molly’s side, even when they are sleeping, he is always cuddled up with them as if they are spooning - i think without a friend now, he could get very bored and destructive. Rocky enjoys a cuddle on the couch and he is great inside; just sits on your feet or on your lap - he just loves to be close to you or touching you some how. He is picking up basic training which we have gradually been stepping up - he now knows “sit” and will sit before he eats with out being told. He loves his food and has a big appetite. He always loves to be chomping on a bone regularly - or chew toys - basically what ever he can get to!! he also gets along fine with our 2 cats and does not seem to have an issue with our rabbit, even when rocky’s inside and kappa the rabbit is hopping around the lounge, he’s not at all fazed. He also loves water and enjoys a swim in the river. We’ve had him on a lead a few times and he is not a huge fan but we are slowly getting him on the lead more to get him used to it. With some love and attention he has turned into be a very gentle, calm and loving little boy!!

as rocky’s only a young dog he will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so he grows up to have lovely manners. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to keep rocky stimulated will make him very happy indeed!

rocky would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with a doggie companion to learn from or spoon with!
