About Missy (On Hold 19/10/12)
Hi, I'm Missy, a delightful Chihuahua mix (maybe foxy). I am about 6 years old and weigh around 4 kg’s. I am looking for a nice warm, quiet home that will spoil me and love me lots, with TLC. My carer describes me as such a superb companion, and so easy to care for, like I’m not there as I am so quiet and calm and well behaved inside. She says I will be hard to give up. I am on the road to good health and routine and learning how to be loved unconditionally and learning new ways of how a dog should be taken care of.
Unfortunately my previous owner wasn’t very good at taking care of me and I have lived outside all my life and not given the care I should have received. I have condition called "dry eye" causing me to have trouble seeing. It has scarred my eyes partially so I am on eye drops for a little while to help it improve and it will be a bit of trial and error to help it. I also have a heart murmur so I’m not active. But it doesn't affect me from getting about and enjoying my wonderful new second life.
I am a quiet girl but I am starting to wag my tail and come to my lovely foster carer for pats and to be picked up instead of ducking for cover. I'm sure I will continue to improve with affection and encouragement. I am learning each day and also being exposed to many things to build my confidence: from car rides, dog coats, little strolls on a lead and collar, meeting all shapes and sizes of dogs, and learning more about sensory materials under my feet which I am still getting use to. I am crate trained and sleep in there all night in my bed. I am house training.
Two of my favourite things are napping and chilling on the lounge beside my foster carer. I am a great companion dog and go about life now like a normal dog: snoozing, exploring and being your little shadow. I want to be with you, but I do very well when left alone for a few hours. I manage well with obstacles but will require someone who is home a lot. Even though I am good with other dogs I would like to be an only dog if possible. I am very easy to look after, but I do have a few requirements to make my life easy. I will be after a specific home that will help me to grow, so please email my carer catherine on lbenge2@bigpond.com and she will send you a questionnaire to fill out to see if you are suitable.
Missy is in foster care in Warners Bay, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). For more information or to meet Missy please email foster carer Catherine on lbenge2@bigpond.com

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
